Speedy Delete tag - Tony Campbell (politician)

Hello Redditaddict69, I was surprised to see this, as I was unaware that there had been a previous article and AfD about Campbell at all. While processing OTRS ticket #2018101610008133 for File:Tony Campbell.jpg on October 17 and finding no article, I felt that an article should be created and proceeded to do so. As an administrator myself, as well as handling complaints at OTRS, I've long been concerned with the perception held by many that Wikipedia has a left-wing bias. In the case of the US Senate race in Maryland, it would be fodder for the critics were Wikipedia not to have any bio about the GOP candidate in this 4-candidate election, when the other 3 do.

As to the concern about notability, I have discussed this more fully at Talk:Tony Campbell (politician)#Contested deletion. You will note that more RS cites have been added, too.

In light of the above, please reconsider your SD.  JGHowes  talk 12:53, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

@JGHowes: And the other 3 candidates have had articles for years and are considered notable. If you believe this is false, AfD them. Just because a file exists does not mean there should be an article for it. And I would not consider there to be a left-wing bias. Here are some liberals that have had their articles deleted due to notability issues:
Wayne Sowell
Jean Hay Bright
Bob Henry Baber
Rebekah Kennedy
Joe Manchik
Ben Clayburgh
Jane Raybould
So I'd beg to differ, especially when I could barely find that many conservatives whose articles were deleted.
The SD was redone as an AfD. But my SD was valid as I still could not find anything to suffice for WP:NPOL and many of my experiences with political candidate AfDs with as many as 20 sources were still deleted as it was WP:MILL coverage.
I will include part of this message in the AfD itself for other readers to see. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 19:01, 26 October 2018 (UTC)
You misunderstand me. I am not saying that Wikipedia has a left-wing bias, either in general or specifically regarding political candidates. But there are those who do: see Conservapedia, etal.  JGHowes  talk 19:11, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

It's fine @Zackmann08: looks like the article needs help anyways and because WP a volunteer-worked project, I plan to try and expand the article. In the future, don't clear messages on others' talk pages. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 09:40, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
Fair enough. Literally the ONLY reason I did was because it was a direct violation of WP:CANVASS. Was trying to spare people from the spam. Obviously you are free to assist! :-) --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 09:42, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
Hadn't heard of that policy @Zackmann08: sorry if I sounded rude before. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 09:44, 11 November 2018 (UTC)
Not at all! You're all good. Normally, refactoring another user's talk page is a no-no. This is one of the few exceptions. We all good! --Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 09:46, 11 November 2018 (UTC)

Letting u kno

Your AfD conclusion at Fibre rope is one of the poorest I have ever seen. Thought you should know. Roxy, the Prod. wooF 16:21, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

@Roxy the dog: this comment on my talk page helps with absolutely nothing. Thought you should know. I stand by my closure. If you want it overturned, explain why. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 16:29, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Tell me, what is the difference between rope and fibre rope? -Roxy, the Prod. wooF 17:21, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
@Roxy the dog: Frankly I’m surprised that an experienced editor such as yourself doesn’t know that AfDs are closed per WP:CONSENSUS. Not what seems right. Consensus was a CLEAR CUT KEEP with several rationales on that side compares to mere trivia on the delete side. Take it to an admin if you’d like but I believe I am right here. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 17:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Hardly clear cut. I'm not sure you have the experience to close this. Perhaps you should stick to Reddit, anyway, it'll get sorted out. I have some ideas. -Roxy, the Prod. wooF 17:45, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
@Roxy the dog: WP:CONSENSUS - I've not always been happy with the results of an AfD and I've seen many deletion nominations overturned. That's because it's done per the policy I just mentioned. Your comment on my talk page is one of the most pointless I have seen in a long time, "one of the poorest" assists with nothing especially when you gave no examples or policies to back up your statements. You should refrain from repeating this in the future. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 07:00, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
@Roxy the dog: and I guess it's only appropriate for me to apologize for getting you blocked... To be fair, I did warn you and let you know that your edits weren't constructive on my talk page, your talk page, and that on fiber rope. So next time, please be more careful and mindful about your edits. Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 22:25, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Hypocorisms

Re this edit, you're absolutely right. Not only do we not need to include hypocorisms, MOS:HYPOCORISM specifically says not to. – Muboshgu (talk) 04:41, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

@Muboshgu: I thought I remembered your nickname from somewhere. I assume you make sure nicknames aren't mistaken for hypocorisms (your rv on my edit from months ago is why I thought this was wrong) Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 05:10, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

Notification of AFD

Hiya, you were previously involved with the article KC International Airlines. Just wanted to know I had nominated the article for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/KC International Airlines (2nd nomination). Please voice your opinions there. --Tyw7 (🗣️ Talk) — If (reply) then (ping me) 16:19, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

@Tyw7: Thanks for the notice. I've !voted delete on the AfD. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 16:34, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Who are you?

I edited my husband’s Wikipedia page, corrected his DOB, added me as his wife, and entered career info and where he currently plays music. What the heck, why did Reddittaddict69 remove all the work I did on Chris’s Biggs (my husbands) page? Dbiggs1018 (talk) 23:25, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

@Dbiggs1018: Wikipedia doesn't allow those close to the subject to edit their Wikipedia pages. You must use adequate sourcing and format correctly. The lines you added are obviously not sentences, nor do they make any sense either. If you feel that my explanation is not just, contact an admin. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 23:44, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Didn't see this until just now. I was late to the DR but glad I made it to contribute to AfD relist. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 05:31, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Deletion review for Dream Pod 9

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Dream Pod 9. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Chetsford (talk) 04:01, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

AfD

Hi - thanks very much for closing AfD/Dream Pod 9. I question, though, whether this should perhaps have been relisted based on validity of arguments failing to achieve a consensus as opposed to vote counting demonstrating majority support? Specifically, of the six "Keep" !votes, three were simply "Keep per" (two of which were from editors who universally use this as a rubber stamp !vote in AfDs and all of which referred to an unusual and invalid argument that WP:PERSON applies to corporations since a corporation is a group of people, along with the implausible claim that gamemonkeys.com is a WP:RS) and another was "Keep ... I have heard of them, so suspect they may be notable" which is not our policy on article retention. Are you open to reopening the discussion? Chetsford (talk) 16:50, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

@Chetsford: I felt that the "Snow Keep" vote (the first) made enough arguments to lead to a close as keep. Even with the delete nomination and the other delete !votes, I thought keep was the best. If you would still like me to reopen it, I'd do so. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 18:46, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Understood, thanks for your reply. While I feel it would be best to stay open another week, I think it's your choice. I appreciate you taking the time to handle the close. Chetsford (talk) 22:33, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

User:Redditaddict69, I wouldn't take his response personally - in fact, I would have been far more surprised if he did not g←o to DRV. BOZ (talk) 11:39, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

I find this form of "keeping score" on Chetford's part to be particularly indicative of the mentality involved. Newimpartial (talk) 12:38, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
@BOZ: @Newimpartial: @Chetsford: No personal offense taken, I get it :) This is what DRV is for. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 19:52, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Notice

The article 2023 United States elections has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON. Wait until there are substantial coverage about any of the 2023 elections to create the page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Image of Bill Clinton Boyhood Home in Hope

I'm sitting in Hope, Arkansas reviewing the Wiki entry and the image of Bill Clinton's Boyhood Home is incorrect. Correct photos of the house can be referenced on the National Parks Service website [1] I saw the house today and it looks nothing like the image that is uploaded to the page. Hope that's helpful. Shelly Gwadyllems (talk) 01:27, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

@Gwadyllems: Yeah, the NPS home is his birthplace. He also had a different home in Hope, which is in the photo I uploaded, and it was damaged by a fire years back. ––Redditaddict69 (talk) (contribs) 02:32, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
